Leftovers: A Mini-Transcribathon

Join EMROC, Wellcome Collection, and the Royal College of Physicians for an afternoon of transcription.

This Spring, we’ll be exploring the wide variety of materials in early modern recipe books, while also working to clear up lingering pages from earlier transcription projects.

Our aim is to finish the work on four very different books:

Wellcome MS 8903: English manuscript book of medicinal and culinary recipes owned by Grace Carteret, 1st Countess Granville (1654-1744). The volume is closely associated with the contemporary Ann Fanshawe recipe manuscript held by the Wellcome Library (MS.7113).

Wellcome MS 8468: English culinary and medical recipe book, 18th century.  Collection of cookery and medical recipes transcribed by several members of the Sheldon family, of Weston, Warwickshire.

Wellcome MS 311 A booke of medicines. With other medical receipts, and a number of cookery receipts by Joan Gibson and by a second Joanna Gibson, 1634-1717

Wellcome MA 363: Mrs Hughes her receipts of her whole Booke written in the yeare 1637, in English and Spanish.
