Maggie Simon and Hillary Nunn led their classes in a collaborative recipe-making activity in 2023, guiding their students in a cross-campus project of making a lip salve from transcribathon texts. It went so well, they knew they had to give it a try for this year’s “Women’s Health, Women’s Handbooks” transcribathon. This time, they are taking up the challenge of making a headache remedy from Royal College of Physicians MS 688, A Booke of surgerie and physick.
Care to join us? We’d love to have more student transcribers become recipe-makers!
The template for this year’s activity is available as a Word file here, and as a pdf here: EMROCTranscribathon25RecipeActivity. It’s fully customizable for your classes and your students. Care to join us in making the remedy? If so, just contact us and we’ll be glad to have you and your students as part of our experiments!
